Miami Beach, March 15, 2006

New Clinical Data

An international multicenter study looking at the safety and effectiveness of the InLine bipolar precoagulation system was presented at the 2006 AHPBA meeting in Miami Beach on March 9-12.

The study is titled "Techniques for reduced blood loss, transection time and bile leak rate during liver resection in a multinational study". Over a period of 22 months, 53 patients underwent hepatic resections at four institutions in the US, Germany and Australia for this study. Data was collected prospectively for tumor characteristcs, operative outcomes, and postoperative complications including the incidence of bile leaks.

The abstract concludes that the InLine "is a safe and effective technique for liver resections which significantly aids in the reduction of blood loss, the rate of postoperative bile leaks and transection time."[See PDF abstract here]
